Day in Mystic, Connecticut

Spent a lovely afternoon with some lovely people in the lovely town of Mystic. Got to see Santa arrive on a tug boat, grabbed some coffee from the Mystic Beanery (where I totally wish I could work!), and showed our friend from Texas what a classic old New England seaport town looks like. Also managed to stop in the book store and purchase “Room with a View”. Just another read to add to my never ending list of books to tackle! -Mimi

Favorite Thanksgiving…

  1. Tradition- beginning the never ending playing of Christmas music
  2. Activity- Cooking!
  3. Decoration- Autumn napkins folded all prettily
  4. Recipe- Chocolate Stout Cake!!!
  5. Moment- playing Catch-a-Phrase with family and friends
  6. Song- any song by Michael Bublé
  7. Memory- eating soo much food that your belly is just about to explode and you need to be rolled away from the table by helping hands

This Thanksgiving was extremely successful, despite the fact that the oven almost broke down, the dryer did break down, and the fridge also gave out (yes, it was very eventful in our house this year!). All of the recipes were absolutely delicious and amazing, and we felt especially blessed to be surrounded by family and friends. You all really need to make a chocolate stout cake at some point in your life- http://www.spoonforkbacon.com/2013/11/spicy-chocolate-stout-cake/. Hope the holiday was the same for everybody else, because this is the season that is truly the time to give thanks for blessings and to feel the love from those around us. Image

A Little Lost…

Day #1. This whole “blogging” thing is a little more technical than I thought it would be. But I’m sure eventually I may possibly get the hang of it. Hopefully.

Anywho, today is Thanksgiving and boy do we have a lot to be thankful for! An awesome family, amazing friends who can be a little on the competitive side, and s-o  m-u-c-h  f-o-o-d! Spent the past two days cooking, but it all paid off in the end. Spanakopita, roasted squash and apples, a sacrificial turkey, and a delectable chocolate stout cake! YUM! Oh, and I should mention that it had peanut butter cream frosting on it as well. So good. Hope families everywhere were able to share such happiness on this day of thanks!
